Baldomero Barciela

Born in Vigo, Spain. After studying guitar and earning a degree in art history, he began his viola da gamba studies with Ventura Rico. He later pursued advanced studies at the Lyon Conservatory (CNSM) with Marianne Muller. He was a founding member of L’Assemblée des Honnestes Curieux (The Assembly of Honest Curious People), an ensemble with which he won first prize at the Bonporti Competition in 1998. He has performed worldwide at prestigious festivals such as those in Sablé, Urbino, Boston, and Regensburg. He has participated in numerous recordings for the labels Harmonia Mundi, Zig-Zag Territoires, Opus 111-Naïve, and Mirare, most of which have received international critical acclaim (Diapason d'Or of the Year, Editor's Choice, etc.). He has also been invited to participate in broadcasts for Radio France, WDR, Polish Radio, and SWR.
