Katia Viel, a violinist trained at the Toulouse Conservatory of Music, continued her studies in 2008 at the Geneva University of Music, where she specialized in modern and baroque violin. After obtaining her Bachelor's degree in modern violin, she pursued a Master's degree in baroque violin at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, graduating in 2014 with highest honors.
During her studies, Katia Viel had the opportunity to perform under the direction of renowned conductors such as P. Herreweghe, R. Alessandrini, and T. Koopman, and to participate in projects like the Ambronay Baroque Music Academy. She also performed as solo violinist with the Academia Giovanile Montis Regalis in 2012.
Professionally, she performs with numerous prestigious ensembles, including the Geneva Camerata, the Il Pomo d'Oro orchestra, and La Chapelle Rhénane. She is a founding member of the ensembles I Pizzicanti and Abchordis, and has recorded a CD of Neapolitan Baroque music. Katia Viel continues to perform with various ensembles in Europe.
